Getting started
What is Apex 3D Studio?
Apex 3D Studio is a browser-based workspace for composing 3D scenes from editable primitives, inspecting the scene in a live WebGL viewport, adjusting materials and object scale, saving a scene in the current browser, and exporting a GLB file. This first release is a local scene editor, not a hosted AI model-generation service.
Can I create a model by describing it in plain English?
The studio accepts a small set of local commands such as adding a blue sphere, gold torus, cylinder, cone, or box. The command creates editable geometry in the browser; it does not call an AI model or interpret arbitrary design specifications yet. The interface labels these as local scene edits.
Does ‘make me a Batman face’ work?
No. The current local command parser adds one of five primitive shapes and does not generate a detailed face or character. For original character concepts, describe distinctive general traits rather than asking to reproduce a protected character. Any future generative feature will need rights safeguards and clear provider terms.
Do I need 3D experience?
The primitive scene editor is designed for low-friction experimentation: add a shape, select it, change its color or scale, orbit the view, then export. More advanced modeling tools and guided workflows are not included in this release.
Editing
Which shapes can I add?
The current editor offers boxes, spheres, cylinders, cones, and torus rings. Each object can be named, assigned one of six preset surface colors, positioned and rotated with numeric XYZ controls, and scaled uniformly.
How do I move, rotate, or precisely position an object?
Select an object in the scene list, then edit its numeric XYZ position and rotation fields in the inspector. The current version does not yet include direct drag transform gizmos in the viewport.
Can I undo and redo?
Yes. The studio maintains an in-memory edit history for scene changes during the current page session. Browser reload clears that history; saving the scene stores the current scene, not its undo stack.
Can I import an existing model?
Import is not included in this version. The current export is GLB; OBJ, STL, 3MF, USDZ, FBX and importing existing model files remain future work.
Saving and exports
How do I save a project?
Use ‘Save in this browser’ to store the scene description in this browser’s local storage, or export a GLB file to keep a portable model. Local storage is tied to this browser profile and is not cloud backup.
What is a GLB file?
GLB is the binary form of glTF, a widely supported format for transferring 3D scenes with geometry, materials and scene structure in one file. Export compatibility can vary across target tools, so open the downloaded file in your intended viewer or editor before relying on it in production.
Can I embed my model on my website?
Apex’s rendering engine is being developed as a reusable foundation, but secure hosted asset publishing, domain controls, embed snippets, analytics and customer accounts are not implemented in this standalone preview.
AI and privacy
Does this website use generative AI to create the model?
No. The current modeler builds geometry locally from Three.js primitives. It does not send prompts or generated geometry to an AI provider. There is no cloud generation feature in this release.
Are my projects uploaded to a server?
Scene editing and GLB export happen in the browser. The optional save button writes a compact scene description to the browser’s local storage. This standalone preview has no account, cloud project sync or hosted library.
Who owns the models I make?
This release uses basic geometric primitives and does not offer individualized legal advice or exclusive-rights guarantees. Rights may depend on the source geometry, added authorship, applicable law, and the terms of any future provider or service. Review terms and seek counsel for commercial decisions.
3D printing
Are models made here ready to 3D print?
No print-readiness validator is included. The editor does not check manifoldness, wall thickness, overhangs, supports, tolerances, scale units, slicer compatibility or printer/material settings. Inspect and repair an export in a suitable mesh tool and slicer before printing.
Can I connect the modeler to a printer through RAINBO?
The RAINBO 3D Studio has separate printer-preparation and device-integration work. This standalone website does not connect to RAINBO or a physical printer. Device-specific support and physical print quality should be verified in RAINBO and on the target printer.
Performance and access
What browser and device do I need?
Use a modern browser with WebGL enabled. Rendering performance varies with the graphics device, browser settings, power mode, window size and other open applications. If WebGL is unavailable, the page reports an error and the 3D viewport will not run.
Does it work on mobile?
The page uses a responsive layout, but advanced scene editing is currently intended for desktop-class screens. Touch orbit and zoom may be available through Three.js controls; the editor has not been certified across mobile device models.
Is Apex 3D Studio the number-one 3D modeler?
We do not claim a number-one ranking. No independent head-to-head ranking or market-share evidence supports that claim. We are building and measuring the product against clear workflows and will publish evidence when it is available.
Business
How much does it cost?
This preview does not currently collect payment or offer paid cloud features. Pricing for future subscriptions, usage credits, hosted embeds, API access and enterprise features has not been set.
Can I use Apex 3D Studio for paid client work?
This local prototype has no subscription contract or provider commercial-use add-on. Basic shapes exported from the editor may be used as permitted by applicable law and the final service terms, but the product makes no warranty about suitability, clearance or exclusivity.
What is on the roadmap?
Proposed work includes interactive transform gizmos, numeric geometry controls, import, more export formats, mesh checks, printer-targeted preparation, hosted projects, access-controlled embeds, a versioned API, and optional provider-routed generation. Roadmap features are not available until built, tested and clearly launched.
Support
How do I report a bug or rights concern?
The product preview needs a visible support address and rights-reporting process before public launch. Until those are configured and tested, do not treat this preview as a production service for sensitive or valuable projects.
